Our Story
Blue Ridge native Mike Smythers launched Shifted Technologies in 2023, bringing a fresh perspective to technical solutions for businesses across southwest Virginia and western North Carolina. For six years prior, Mike honed his skills building and delivering both standard and custom solutions to small and medium businesses, all while working as a developer and IT analyst. This experience, combined with nine years at a managed services provider and nearly two decades in web application development, gave him a unique understanding of the challenges businesses face. By 2023, Mike’s problem-solving philosophy—finding innovative answers by shifting perspectives—became the driving force in his work, both for his clients and his day job at a rural critical-access hospital, where his software solutions have saved the company thousands. This same out-of-the-box thinking fuels every Shifted Technologies project.
